Simply, use a ground spike on soft ground like soil or turf, and a cross or scissor base on pavement or an indoor floor. A spike won't go into concrete and a cross base won't sit level on soft turf, so get the base right first.

Pick the height for where it stands. A shorter flag fits under a lobby ceiling or inside a booth. A taller one is seen from farther away along a lot or an entrance, and heights run from 6' up to 17'. For a golf event on turf, a ground spike keeps the pole firm in the grass.

If you're planning to stand a cross base outside, talk to our team about adding weight when you order. For a desk or a counter, a stick flag kit fits the space where a tall feather or sail flag won't.

Many flags can be ordered from a single unit, so you can test one at your entrance before ordering a matched row for an entrance, a booth or a site fence. Flags that look almost the same can differ in price, because the price depends on the line, the height, and whether the flag is printed on one side or both.

Still deciding? For a storefront or roadside event where cars pass at speed, start with a feather flag printed on both sides. Its tall, narrow shape stays open and upright, so your text stays readable from the road. Two choices can change that default.

Feather vs teardrop flag. A teardrop flag is rounder and sits lower, so it suits slower foot traffic like a patio, a lobby entrance or a trade show aisle. If drivers are your audience, stay with feather.

Single vs double-sided. Ink soaks through the fabric on a one-sided flag, so the back shows your logo in mirror image. That is fine when the flag is only seen from the front, such as against a fence, and it costs less. If traffic passes in both directions, choose double-sided so the text reads correctly from either side.
